Sydney Trip

Earlier this month I was lucky to be funded by Jazz Music Institute to travel to Sydney for a few days to spend some time with one of Australia’s foremost masters of saxophone pedagogy, Col Loughnan. We discussed the intricacies of tone production on the saxophone and he told me some fascinating stories about his time in the US and his experiences with the legendary Joe Allard.

I also got to sit in with Steve Barry’s band at the regular Monday night jam session at 505 and had a chat with Cameron Undy about bringing my band down to Sydney to play at 505 sometime. I’ll try to make that happen in 2017.
