Abbreviations Orchestra Album Launch

I’ll be playing with Abbreviations Orchestra to launch a new album called Golden Sands next week at JMI Live in Brisbane. The centrepiece of the album is a suite that Andrew Garton has composed based on his grandfather’s beach house at Currumbin on the Gold Coast (QLD). Completing the track listing is a medley of tunes by the late Bernie McGann and The Spotted Dog by Mark Simmonds, both arranged by Andrew.

We recorded the music live in at The Barn Recording Studio over a couple of days in December 2015. The band is: Dan Quigley (trumpet), Andrew Garton (alto saxophone), me (tenor saxophone), Brodie McAllister (trombone), Lachlan Bell (guitar), Andrew Shaw (bass) and Nathan Goldman (drums). The album has a beautiful cover featuring a painting by Sandra Jarrett.
